What affects the cost of seeing a trichologist?

  • Length. A thorough first consultation usually takes about an hour; follow-ups are shorter.
  • Experience. Consultant trichologists with many years in practice tend to charge more.
  • Location. Central London clinics, especially around Harley Street and Mayfair, are at the top of the range.
  • What’s included. Some clinics include a treatment or products in the fee; blood tests are usually extra.
  • In clinic or by video. Video consultations often cost less, but can’t include a hands-on examination.

What do you get for the fee?

A first consultation should give you time: a full history of your hair, health, diet and lifestyle, a close examination of your hair and scalp, a clear explanation of what’s going on, and a written plan made for you. A short appointment can’t cover all of that, which is why a first consultation usually takes about an hour.
