See an online trichologist, wherever you live
If you live too far from my clinic in Forest Row to come in, an online trichologist consultation by video gives you the same unhurried time with me. We go through your hair history, health and lifestyle together, I look at the photos you’ve sent, and you leave with a clear, written plan.
An online hair loss consultation works well for patients elsewhere in the UK, people living abroad, and anyone who finds travelling difficult, whether because of health, mobility, caring responsibilities or neurodiverse needs.
If you can get to Forest Row, I recommend seeing me in clinic: an in-person examination is the most reliable way to reach a diagnosis.
At a glance
- About an hour, one to one with me
- On the video platform that suits you: Zoom, Microsoft Teams, WhatsApp, FaceTime or Google Meet
- Anywhere in the UK, or abroad
- Your photos reviewed before we talk
- A written plan by email
- No GP referral needed
Who an online consultation is for
You live further away
Elsewhere in the UK, outside Sussex, Kent and Surrey, where the drive to Forest Row isn’t practical.
You live abroad
I see patients overseas by video, at a time that works across time zones.
Travelling is difficult
Because of your health, mobility, young children at home, or because a clinic visit feels overwhelming.
Live in Sussex, Kent or Surrey?
Come to the clinic instead. It’s usually within an hour’s drive, with free parking, and I can examine your hair and scalp in person.
How an online trichologist consultation works
Four simple steps, from your first message to your plan.
1
Get in touch
Send me a message with a few words about your hair or scalp. I’ll let you know whether a video consultation suits your problem, or whether you’d be better seen in clinic.
2
Send your details and photos
Before we talk, you send me your health history, any medication and supplements, the products you use, and clear photos of your hair and scalp. If you’ve had blood tests in the last six months, send those too. The consultation fee is £150, paid in pounds sterling once your details and photos are in, so we can book your time.
3
Your video consultation
About an hour, one to one, on the platform that suits you. We talk through everything that might be affecting your hair, and I explain what I think is going on.
4
Your written plan
Your plan follows by email: what to do at home, any products that will help, and when to check in again.
How to take good photos of your hair and scalp
Clear photos help me see what’s going on. Ask someone to help if you can.
Three photos I’ll ask for
- The top of your head, looking down, so I can see how dense your hair is.
- Your crown, with your hair parted to one side so the scalp shows.
- Your hairline, from the front, with your hair pulled back.
Tips for clear photos
- Take them in daylight, near a window, without flash.
- Make sure your hair is dry and styled as usual.
- Don’t use dry shampoo, hair fibres or root sprays on the day.
- Hold the camera steady and check each photo is in focus.
What a video consultation can and can’t do
Video is a good way to start for many problems, but it can’t replace seeing your hair and scalp in person. If I think you’d be better seen in clinic, I’ll tell you before we book.
| Usually suits video | Better seen in clinic |
|---|---|
| General thinning and shedding | Patchy hair loss, or bald patches |
| Pattern hair loss in women and men | Scarring hair loss, or a receding hairline with redness |
| Hair breakage and dryness | A sore, red or inflamed scalp |
| Mild dandruff or an itchy scalp | Anything that needs a close examination or scalp treatments |
What patients say
Questions about online consultations
If yours isn’t here, send me a message and I’ll get back to you.
What is an online trichologist consultation?
It’s a one-to-one consultation with a trichologist by video, instead of in clinic. We go through your history and your photos together, and you receive a written plan by email.
How long does a video consultation take?
About an hour, the same as a first consultation in clinic.
Which video platform do you use?
Whichever suits you: Zoom, Microsoft Teams, WhatsApp, FaceTime or Google Meet.
Can I see a trichologist online from abroad?
Yes. I see patients across the UK and abroad by video, at a time that works across time zones.
Can every hair and scalp problem be assessed online?
Not every one. General thinning, shedding and breakage usually suit video. Patchy or scarring hair loss and sore, inflamed scalps are better seen in clinic, and I’ll tell you if I think so.
Do I need a GP referral?
No. You can contact me directly.
How do I book a video consultation?
Send me a message first. I’ll check a video consultation suits your problem, then arrange a time with you.
How much does a video consultation cost?
£150 for a consultation of about an hour, including your written plan by email. It’s paid in pounds sterling, so if you’re outside the UK your bank converts it at the day’s rate.
